Why Choose the Bicolour Angelfish (Centropyge bicolor)?

The Bicolour Angelfish is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a vibrant and active species to enhance their aquarium. Its bold colours and dynamic behaviour make it a standout addition, while its adaptability ensures it thrives in a variety of tank setups. Though generally reef-safe, it may occasionally nip at corals or clams, so caution is advised in sensitive reef systems. Care Tips:

  • Water Parameters: Maintain stable water conditions with a temperature of 75°F - 80°F (24°C - 27°C), pH between 8.1 - 8.4, and salinity levels of 1.023 - 1.025. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential for keeping this species healthy.
  • Feeding: Bicolour Angelfish thrive on a varied omnivorous diet. Provide high-quality marine pellets or flakes, supplemented with algae-based foods like spirulina and nori. Include live or frozen treats such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. Feed 2-3 times daily in small portions.
  • Tank Setup: Provide a tank of at least 70 gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. This species appreciates a well-structured environment with caves and crevices to explore.
  • Behaviour: Bicolour Angelfish are semi-aggressive and may exhibit territorial behaviour, especially in smaller tanks or toward other dwarf angelfish. They coexist well with other non-aggressive fish in larger tanks with plenty of hiding spaces.
