Care Tips:
- Water Parameters:
Temperature - 24°C-26°C
Salinity - 1.022-1.026
Alkalinity - 8-9dKH
Nitrate - 2-15ppm
Phosphate - 0.03-0.10ppm
Calcium - 450ppm
Magnesium - 1400ppm
- Lighting: Palythoa Corals do well under moderate lighting conditions, which helps support their photosynthetic needs. LED or T5 lighting systems that simulate natural sunlight are ideal for promoting healthy growth and vibrant colouration.
- Water Flow: Moderate to strong water flow is preferred for Palythoa Corals, as it helps keep the polyps clean and encourages full extension. Ensure that the water movement is not too direct, which could stress the coral.
- Feeding: Although Palythoa Corals derive much of their energy from photosynthesis, they can benefit from supplemental feedings. Offer small, particulate foods like phytoplankton, marine snow, or coral-specific food 1-2 times per week to promote growth and overall health.
- Placement: Palythoa Corals can be placed on rock surfaces or the substrate, where they will attach and form colonies. Be cautious when placing them near other corals, as they can grow quickly and may overtake nearby species if not managed properly.
Important Note: Palythoa Corals contain palytoxin, a potent toxin that can be harmful to humans if mishandled. Always wear gloves and take proper precautions when handling or fragging Palythoa to avoid exposure.
