Known for their peaceful temperament and manageable size, Gold Rams are an ideal choice for community tanks and planted aquariums where they can peacefully coexist with a variety of other small, non-aggressive fish.

Why Choose Gold Ram?
The Gold Ram is a standout choice for aquarists looking to add a burst of colour and elegance to their aquarium. Its brilliant golden hue and peaceful demeanour make it a stunning centrepiece in any community or planted tank. Unlike many other cichlids, Gold Rams are known for their gentle nature, making them excellent tank mates for a variety of other small, peaceful fish such as tetras, rasboras, and Corydoras. Their compact size and captivating appearance, combined with their active and social behaviour, make Gold Rams a favourite among both novice and experienced aquarists.
Care Tips:
- Water Parameters: Maintain stable water conditions with a temperature of 78°F - 85°F (25°C - 29°C), pH between 6.0 - 7.5, and soft to slightly acidic water. Gold Rams are sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes and proper filtration are crucial for their health.
- Feeding: The Gold Ram is omnivorous and should be provided with a balanced diet that includes high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. They also enjoy grazing on small invertebrates or algae in a well-maintained tank.
- Tank Setup: Provide a tank with plenty of plants, driftwood, and caves to offer shelter and replicate their natural habitat. Gold Rams prefer a soft, sandy substrate where they can sift through the sand in search of food. A well-planted tank with gentle lighting will help them feel secure and display their best colours.
- Behaviour: Gold Rams are peaceful and thrive in pairs or small groups. They are relatively non-territorial compared to other cichlids, but providing ample space and hiding spots is important, especially during breeding when they may become more protective.
Perfect for Community and Planted Tanks:
The Gold Ram is an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add a peaceful, colourful, and manageable cichlid to their community or planted tank. Their gentle nature and vibrant appearance make them a valuable and rewarding addition to any well-maintained aquarium.
