Why Choose Kenya Tree Coral?
The Kenya Tree Coral is an excellent choice for reef aquarists seeking a hardy, fast-growing, and visually appealing coral for their aquarium. Its tree-like branches and flexible structure create a dynamic focal point in the tank, swaying gently with the water current. This coral is highly adaptable and can thrive in a variety of lighting and water conditions, making it ideal for those who are new to coral keeping. Kenya Tree Corals are also known for their rapid growth, which can quickly fill in empty spaces in the aquarium, providing both beauty and habitat for smaller marine species.
Care Tips:
- Water Parameters:
Temperature - 24°C-26°C
Salinity - 1.022-1.026
Alkalinity - 8-9dKH
Nitrate - 2-15ppm
Phosphate - 0.03-0.10ppm
Calcium - 450ppm
Magnesium - 1400ppm
- Placement: Kenya Tree Coral can be placed anywhere in the aquarium, but it generally does best when positioned in areas with moderate water flow and lighting. It can be attached to rocks or other structures using reef-safe glue or left to attach itself naturally.
- Lighting: This coral thrives under moderate to high lighting conditions. While it can adapt to lower light, optimal growth and coloration are achieved with brighter light. If kept under high light, ensure it is acclimated slowly to avoid stress.
- Water Flow: Moderate water flow is ideal for Kenya Tree Coral, as it helps to keep the coral clean and allows its branches to sway naturally, which is essential for its health and aesthetics.
- Feeding: Kenya Tree Corals are primarily photosynthetic and rely on symbiotic zooxanthellae for energy. However, they can also benefit from occasional feedings of phytoplankton, marine snow, or other fine particulate foods to promote growth.
- Growth: Kenya Tree Coral is a fast-growing species, often spreading and producing new branches quickly. Regular trimming may be necessary to control its size and shape. The trimmings can be propagated to create new colonies or shared with other aquarists.
Perfect for Diverse Reef Environments:
Kenya Tree Corals are an excellent addition to any reef aquarium, providing a beautiful, dynamic presence without the need for complex care. Their hardy nature and adaptability make them suitable for a wide range of marine setups, from beginner to advanced reef tanks.
