Why Choose Red Tuxedo Platy?

The Red Tuxedo Platy is an ideal choice for aquarists seeking a colourful and easy-to-care-for fish that adds both beauty and activity to their aquarium. Its striking red and black colour pattern makes it a standout in any setup, while its peaceful nature ensures compatibility with a wide variety of other community fish, such as guppies, tetras, and Corydoras. Red Tuxedo Platies are livebearers, making them a great option for aquarists interested in breeding or simply observing their natural behaviours. Their adaptability to various water conditions and low maintenance needs make them perfect for both novice and experienced aquarists.

Care Tips:

  • Water Parameters: Maintain stable water conditions with a temperature of 70°F - 78°F (21°C - 26°C), pH between 7.0 - 8.0, and moderately hard to hard water. Red Tuxedo Platies are adaptable but thrive in well-maintained water with regular changes.
  • Feeding: Red Tuxedo Platies are omnivorous and should be provided with a balanced diet that includes high-quality flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Including occasional vegetable matter, such as blanched spinach or spirulina flakes, will enhance their colouration and overall health.
  • Tank Setup: Provide a tank with plenty of live or artificial plants, such as Java moss or Anubias, to offer shelter and breeding sites. Ensure there is ample open swimming space, as platies are active swimmers. A gentle to moderate water flow is preferred.
  • Behaviour: Red Tuxedo Platies are social fish and thrive in groups. It’s recommended to keep a mix of males and females, with a higher ratio of females to males to minimise stress. They are ideal tank mates for other peaceful fish like mollies, guppies, and small tetras.

Perfect for Community and Species-Specific Tanks:

Red Tuxedo Platies are an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add a colourful, peaceful, and hardy fish to their community or species-specific tank. Their vibrant appearance and easy-going nature make them a delightful and rewarding addition to any well-maintained aquarium.
