Native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, the Regal Blue Tang is a hardy and active fish that thrives in well-maintained reef tanks with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots. Why Choose Regal Blue Tang?

The Regal Blue Tang is a fantastic choice for aquarists seeking a large, vibrant, and peaceful fish to enhance their marine aquarium. Its bright blue and yellow coloration creates a striking visual contrast, while its active swimming behaviour adds life and energy to the tank. Known for its adaptability, the Regal Blue Tang is ideal for community reef tanks and can coexist with a variety of other peaceful marine species. Its grazing habits also contribute to algae control, promoting a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

Care Tips:

  • Water Parameters: Maintain stable water conditions with a temperature of 75°F - 82°F (24°C - 28°C), pH between 8.1 - 8.4, and salinity levels of 1.023 - 1.025. Regular water changes and high-quality filtration are crucial to keep your Regal Blue Tang healthy.
  • Feeding: Regal Blue Tangs are primarily herbivorous and thrive on a diet rich in algae and seaweed. Offer high-quality marine pellets or flakes, supplemented with nori and live or frozen foods like mysis shrimp or spirulina-based preparations. Feeding small portions multiple times a day is recommended.
  • Tank Setup: Provide a spacious tank of at least 100 gallons to accommodate their active swimming behaviour and size. Include plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding spots to mimic their natural reef habitat. Strong water flow is beneficial to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Behaviour: Regal Blue Tangs are generally peaceful but may exhibit territorial behaviour toward other tangs, especially in smaller tanks. They thrive in community tanks with other peaceful marine species but should be the only tang or surgeonfish unless the tank is large enough to prevent aggression.

Perfect for Reef and Marine Display Tanks:

The Regal Blue Tang is a standout addition to marine aquariums, offering both beauty and functionality. Its vibrant appearance, peaceful nature, and algae-grazing habits make it ideal for large reef setups and community tanks, where its dynamic presence can be fully appreciated.
