The Teardrop Butterflyfish is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a graceful and visually captivating species for their aquarium. Its unique teardrop marking and vibrant colouration make it an instant focal point in any tank. While it is not fully reef-safe due to its tendency to nip at corals and invertebrates, it thrives in large fish-only setups with non-aggressive tank mates. This species requires a varied diet and a stable, well-maintained environment to reach its full potential.

- Feeding: Teardrop Butterflyfish require a diverse diet. Provide high-quality marine pellets or flakes, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Offer marine algae or seaweed to enhance their nutrition. Feed 2-3 times daily in small portions.
- Tank Setup: A tank of at least 100 gallons is recommended for a single Teardrop Butterflyfish. Provide plenty of open swimming space with live rock for grazing and exploration.
- Behaviour: Generally peaceful but may become territorial toward other butterflyfish or similarly shaped species. It thrives best when kept singly or in a bonded pair in a well-established tank.
