Magnifica Anemones are known for their large size and their ability to move around the tank until they find the perfect spot, so providing the right environment is crucial.
Care Tips:
- Water Parameters:
Temperature - 24°C-26°C
Salinity - 1.022-1.026
Alkalinity - 8-9dKH
Nitrate - 2-15ppm
Phosphate - 0.03-0.10ppm
Calcium - 450ppm
Magnesium - 1400ppm
- Lighting: Green Magnifica Anemones require high-intensity lighting, as they are photosynthetic and rely on symbiotic zooxanthellae for energy. LED or metal halide lights are recommended to provide the necessary light spectrum for optimal growth.
- Water Flow: Provide moderate to strong water flow to keep the anemone’s tentacles moving gently and to prevent detritus buildup. Ensure the flow is not too strong to prevent the anemone from getting damaged or overly stressed.
- Feeding: In addition to photosynthesis, the Green Magnifica Anemone benefits from supplemental feedings of meaty foods such as shrimp, fish, or mysis shrimp. Feeding 1-2 times per week is recommended to keep the anemone healthy and vibrant.
- Tank Setup: Magnifica Anemones prefer to attach to solid surfaces such as rocks, and they often position themselves near the top of the tank to receive the maximum amount of light. Ensure your tank has sufficient space and stable rocks for the anemone to settle. A mature tank of at least 100 gallons is recommended due to the anemone’s size and movement.
Perfect for Established Reef Tanks:
The Green Magnifica Anemone is a showpiece species that brings life and colour to any reef tank. Its symbiotic relationship with clownfish and its breathtaking beauty make it an excellent addition for aquarists with mature, stable systems who are looking to create a vibrant and naturalistic reef environment.
